Handcraft magic

Now I've decided to group these two wonderful ladies together for this post because both are extremely talented! I'm not going to say too much on them because I think you should all go check out their blogs and other links because they both create lovely pieces of textiles - crochet, lace, woven and embroidery! Also, they have lots of nice plants :-)

Sneak peeks!

I don't want to give too much away but here are some snippets of things I've been working on. I've got some big plans for these pieces....
They're all Photoshop collages using some found images and a mixture of sketches and monoprints.

From above

I've had these pictures by Maurizio Anzeri saved to my desktop for what feels like forever just waiting to share and it's about time I did!
All but one (bottom right) are from his collaboration with Dazed and Confused magazine - and you can read about it here.

They're so inspiring! Once my current project is done and dusted I think I want to work on some embroidery!

Private Idaho

You wouldn't think that a few weeks ago the weather was beautiful and everyone had that summer feeling.... aaah England....
Well one thing that I tend to think about whether it's sunshine or showers is knitting (well, its currently all about crochet, but that's another story!).
I came across Christien Meindertsma's Idaho project on Pinterest and instantly loved the scale! I can't imagine how much of a struggle those needles much be! When I saw the photos, I instantly had a desire for cosy winter nights on the couch with a blanket! (*must find massive needles to make blanket a reality!*)

Knit-wits!

I am completely in awe of the knitwear that Annie Larson creates! I've said before that I'm a sucker for geometric patterns, but when they're combined with some fancy shmancy knitting I'm pretty much sold!

I'll leave the pictures to do the rest of the talking....

LDN town

For my birthday this year I was a very lucky girl! Not only was I treated to lots of amazing things but I was also taken to London for a cultured couple of days. Christopher and I visited pretty much all of the tourist hot-spots to get a few snaps and soaked up the sun on our way!

I was really lucky to get to see the Yayoi Kusama exhibition at Tate Modern (I've been having a Tate filled couple of weeks! Perks of the job....) and I loved every moment. I wish there was an opportunity to take a picture in the mirrored lights installation... for now I'll have to settle with a makeshift one on the postcard. I absolutely loved Kusama's work - especially her love for crazy polka dots and patterns! It was good being able to see work from her whole career to date and see how her life changed and the circles she was mixing in (or more to the point - not accepted in). It was such a fun show and I think Chris enjoyed it too!

Now or else

Sorry for a bit of quiet time over here lately, it's been a pretty busy couple of weeks and I have a couple of projects on the go that have been taking up my time!
I FINALLY got to go and see the Charline Von Heyl show at Tate Liverpool and it did not disappoint! I loved the use of layering and shapes in her work, it was also inspiring to find out that she does not plan her work, so it all kind of comes together naturally.

Check out the Tate website for more information on Charline and the show.
